A inserção da ciência de ponta no ensino médio: a termoluminescência como eixo interdisciplinar entre química e história
Abstract
The inclusion of contemporary scientific topics in high school education is essential to align the curriculum with current scientific practice and promote more meaningful learning. In this context, thermoluminescence emerges as a relevant subject still absent from textbooks, despite its interdisciplinary potential between Chemistry and History. The aim of this study is to analyze this gap and propose an approach that integrates thermoluminescence into teaching, linking chemical principles to historical and archaeological applications. The study was conducted through an analysis of textbooks approved by the PNLD 2026 and the development of an interdisciplinary proposal that connects physicochemical foundations with the dating of ancient ceramics. The results indicate that the term “thermoluminescence” does not appear in the evaluated materials, revealing a disconnect between the school curriculum and scientific advances widely used in current research. It is concluded that incorporating contemporary topics, such as thermoluminescence, can enrich Chemistry education, promote historical contextualization, and strengthen students’ critical thinking, contributing to a more integrated understanding of science and its social impacts.
